Winner of Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll” Poker Open Championship Announced
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Chris Bolek of Boca Raton, Fla., walked away with $480,200 after winning first place in the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll” Poker Open $2 Million Guaranteed Championship held November 28 – December 3, 2014. Runner up Sean Winter of Jacksonville, Fla. walked away with $270,000.
The showcase event featured 601 entries for the signature $2 million guaranteed prize pool, with 30,000 in tournament chips and two flights on Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29. Players were able to play either starting flight or both if they were eliminated on Day 1A. Re-entry was allowed until the start of level 7.
The tournament attracted past WSOP bracelet winners, high stake grinders and many local players. Those players who joined the field to try their hand at the Championship included Vanessa Selbst, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, Jason Mercier, Tristan Wade, Brian Hastings, Mike Leah, Marsha Wolak, and 2001 Main Event Champion Carlos Mortensen.
The heads up match between Bolek and Winter started relatively even but Bolek took most of the major pots. With a dwindling stack, Winter took a shot with a hand that could not beat his component and ultimately sent him in the runner-up position. Bolek is recently off a runner-up finish at WPT Bestbet less than one month ago and now won the biggest victory of his career. He also moved over $1,000,000 in career tournament earnings with the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open” Championship.
“This is my home,” Bolek said simply when asked about his run. “I’m a South Florida player and I come to Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino a lot. The structures here are great, competitive to anything else in the country.” When asked what was next, Bolek replied “I’m just going to enjoy this moment for awhile,” he said when asked what was next.”
