At this year’s World Series of Poker, the game will join the ranks of professional sports by offering fans a live in-game scoreboard.

The company tasked with providing this new technology is PageMail.  The new software to be used by dealers is called ChipTic.

Bracelet events will feature dealers handling a Blackberry- tablet inputting various data.

PageMail released the following overview of the live reporting software:

The key to the success of a live in-game scoreboard for poker is the ability to track the movements of

the players throughout. Poker changes scores every hand, thus it is imperative to track in real time.

To do so, a software program used in concert with web-enabled tablets provided to all dealers and floor

staff will ensure the proper tracking of ALL players.

All dealers and floor staffs will continue to perform their tasks as they normally do, with one added layer

of hitting a few keys on a tablet device to update the central software system of the tasks they carry out.

Dealers will be responsible for three tasks, all being done via a small Blackberry Playbook tablet device,

which fits compactly in a dealer’s rack without interfering with any of their dealing duties. The tablet will

be completely stripped and only allow access to the ChipTic software program.

The dealer will:

• Check-in players – Verify the person in the seat is the person it is supposed to be

• Bust players – Remove players from a tournament when they are eliminated

• Update player chip counts – During scheduled breaks, dealers will input the accurate chip count

of all players at the table

• Call Floor – Dealers, will now be able to push a single button to alert floor staff of issue at table

Floor staff (supervisors) will also carry tablets, and conduct the following tasks:

• Break tables – As appropriate, move players to a new table using a random seat draw process

• Move players – If necessary, re-assign a player to a new seat/table

• Re-draw seats – Randomly reassign all remaining players in a tournament

• Track penalties/warnings – Note any player/dealer issues and track penalties

• End of Day re-seating – Assign new player seat assignments at end of tournament day.
