WSOP Flatter Payouts Better Than $10 Mil Guarantee Say Hellmuth, Negreanu
Two of the biggest names in poker, Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu, would like to see flatter payouts at future World Series of Poker Main Events as opposed to the $10 million guaranteed to the winner regardless of how many players entered.
Hellmuth tweeted in response to Negreanu’s previous tweet on the subject:
Agree 100% RT @RealKidPoker RE: WSOP main event: Flatter payouts (paying more players) more important than $10 Million guarantee for 1st
Both believe that flatter payouts would result in more recreational players taking part in the event.
Last week the WSOP announced it will once again guarantee the $10 million to the first place winner.
“We believe the WSOP is uniquely able to deliver the big event with life-changing money for some and a life-experience for all,” WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart said.
The WSOP also announced a new dubbed “the Colossus" that will feature a $5 million guaranteed prize pool with a mere $565 buy-in.
