Zoom Poker, PokerStars fast-paced ring game format, has been introduced in beta format this past week and it is the talk of the Internet poker world.

Not since Full Tilt Poker’s now defunct Rush Poker has a similar format been introduced.

PokerStars explains the Zoom Poker format and why it’s such a hit with players:

When you fold in Zoom you are immediately moved to a hand at a new table. You can fold at any point in the hand when you are facing a bet. You can even click the ‘Fast Fold’ button, which allows you to fold when it is not yet your turn to act. This greatly speeds up the action, because you can move on to the next hand before everyone else finishes playing their hand.

Some of the feedback coming in from the folks over at the TwoPlusTwo.com posting community:

I tried Zoom (US play money....boo hoo) for a little bit and it plays pretty much like Rush except I think the transitions between tables are much smoother and maybe even faster. Rush used to "jerk" you from one table to the next, but then sometimes it would take awhile for the new table to fill so you'd still be sitting and waiting. Much harder to get those instant reads though, not having the icons for easier 'instant' recognition. Maybe they will add them after the beta phase which might slow down the table transition some, but hopefully not.

Only at peak hours first of all.

but stud hi is a very complex game, stud8 offers many big pots

and is great fun and razz is perfect to attract the drunks.

seriously, many people play it and it fits the zoom-format perfectly.

there's room for a huge boom due to zoom.

ZOOM is fun the way a video game is fun.

But it has really little to do with real poker.

You change tables every hand, so you can never get a read on your opponents.

Because you can FAST FOLD, many people just play premium hands and suited connectors.

Regular poker stars for fun tables can be used to improve your LIVE game..ZOOM only will hurt your LIVE game.

However it is fun, and a massive time waster..I must have played it 12 hours this past weekend.

Zoom isn’t the only game in town as Gambling911.com reported this past week.

Rival Fast Poker has also been released and will be available to various online network sites.  Unibet and Betsson are two of the Web card rooms soon to incorporate Fast Poker.

Relax Gaming has developed the Fast Poker platform, which will allow for fast play and quick transfer of a pool of player to another table upon folding their cards.

“We are thrilled to launch Relax Fast Poker Network together with some of the very leading names in the industry,” said Patrik Österåker, Relax Gaming’s CEO. “We look forward to the launch and are sure more operators will join in. Fast Poker has the potential to make poker really hot again. Its fun, fast and easy, a great way of playing poker.”
