The first GOP debate this summer on Fox resulted in banner ratings with 24 million viewers.  The second GOP debate on CNN scored 23 million viewers.

Two subsequent debates resulted in declining viewership numbers in conjunction with the diminishing hype that came ahead of the initial debate.

The last debate on Fox Business scored a record 13.5 million viewers, this despite the limited number of cable providers that offer Fox Business as well as the relatively nominal promotion leading up to that debate.

CNBC’s previous debate resulted in 14 million viewers.

“We anticipate a surge in viewership numbers thanks in part to Republican frontrunner Donald Trump’s controversial statements regarding the banning of Muslims from entering the U.S.,” notes Gambling911.com Senior Editor Payton O’Brien.  “Likewise, there is increased interest following a spate of terrorist attacks worldwide and in the United States as well as the aggressive promotion by CNN.”
