Somebody needs to put odds up on when incoming Republican House Speaker John Boehner will shed his first tear this week.  It’s not so much a matter of if he will cry, but when.

There are plenty of opportunities available for Boehner, who is known for his waterworks.

On Wednesday, outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi is set to hand over the House gavel to Boehner.

“I would anticipate oddsmakers making him a pretty big favorite to cry during that ceremony,” says Payton O’Brien, Senior Editor of the Gambling911.com website.  “He may want to reserve the brunt of his sobbing for the reading of the United States Constitution on Thursday.  Here, I would encourage oddsmakers to post OVER/UNDER or the minute range in which we see the first tear shed.”

Boehner has broken down on a number of occasions, most recently during a segment of 60 Minutes.

Bookmaker.com traditionally would offer betting odds on this type of event.  The option was currently under consideration especially since Wednesday’s ceremony will be televised live.  Should they decide to post odds, we will publish them here.

Boehner will now be second in line to the presidency behind President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
