GOP candidate for US President and former Utah Governor, Jon Huntsman, was quick to release an ad mocking Mitt Romney’s $10K bet offer to Texas Governor Rick Perry.

Like Romney, Huntsman is a Mormon.  And like Romney, Huntsman is not supposed to gamble based on Mormon doctrine.

During Saturday night’s GOP debate, Perry was challenged to make the $10,000 wager over whether Romney mandated individuals to seek healthcare during his term of Governor of Massachusetts.  Healthcare reform (or what the Republicans term “Obama Care”) remains a hot button topic during the campaign.

At first, the Sunday morning media outlets were quick to suggest Romney was “out of touch” with the American people by suggesting he had $10,000 to throw away on a pretty ridiculous wager.  Later in the day, websites like Gambling911.com were quick to point out that Romney may also be out of touch with his church

By Monday, Huntsman, who trails in the polls, had seized on the opportunity to poke fun at his opponent.  The normally stiff and composed Romney was squirming all day Sunday, even implying the $10,000 he offered to bet was “all the money I have”.

Huntsman might not be permitted to gamble either….but can we really blame him for accepting this wager?

Something tells us the Mormon Church might be willing to overlook this one.
