Harris Odds After Selecting Tim Walz?
It's now a statistical tie at BetOnline as GOP nominee and former president Donald Trump comes in at -110 odds and presumptive Democrat nominee and current vice president of the United States Kamala Harris comes in at -100.
The newly posted odds come 24 hours after Harris selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
Harris introduced Walz, 60, at a raucous rally in Philadelphia Tuesday evening....and Walz delivered. The Minnesota Governor is seen as a "folksy" character who can attract rural voters.
“He’s the kind of person who makes people feel like they belong and then inspires them to dream big. ... That’s the kind of vice president America deserves,” Harris said while standing with Walz in Philadelphia.
Taking the microphone after Harris, Walz revved up the crowd for the rigorous campaign to come. “We’ve got 91 days. My God, that’s easy. We’ll sleep when we’re dead,” he said.
Walz is far from a household name. An ABC News/Ipsos survey conducted before he was selected but after vetting began showed that nearly 9 in 10 U.S. adults did not know enough to have an opinion about him.
The selection of Walz comes as a new NPR poll shows Harris taking the national lead over Trump.
Harris has upended the presidential race and has now built a 51%-48% lead over former President Trump, according to the latest NPR/PBS News/Marist poll.
That result is 4 points better than just after Harris got into the race two weeks ago when President Biden bowed out. Harris maintains a 3-point lead (48%-45%) when third-party choices are offered, too.
