Levi Johnston Run For Mayor of Wasilla Set At +200
Levi Johnston is starring in his own reality show and, as part of the drama, will make a run for Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. Former U.S. Vice Presidential running mate to John McCain, Sarah Palin, was once mayor of Wasilla and helped make the small Alaska town famous. She of course is grandmother to Levi’s child Tripp and is not exactly enamored by the 20-year-old.
Gambling911.com, the gambling news and odds authority, gives Levi Johnston’s chances of becoming the next Mayor of Wasilla long odds of +200, not betable just yet at any of the online outfits that take real cash wagers.
Reason for making him an underdog is that Johnston probably has few real political aspirations to be taken seriously in this race. His interest in Wasilla seems more geared towards drawing attention to the reality show, “Loving Levi”.
Roz Zurko of the Examiner: “Hopefully the town won't be duped into believing the Hollywood hype and vote this kid in office. He is already admitting it wasn't an idea of his, so it is nothing near and dear to his heart, just a ratings grabber.”
Despite its just over 10,000 people, Wasilla actually has the 4th largest population in the state of Alaska. Wasilla probably has enough celebritydom a la Sarah Palin to be infatuated with a Johnston Mayoral appointment. Then again, stranger things have happened.
The town’s current Mayor, Verne E. Rupright, is an Alaskan lawyer, Vietnam veteran, and Republican Party member. Rupright, a 25-year resident of the town, has stated that he plans to run for a second term for mayor of Wasilla, presumably going up against Johnston.
Levi and Bristol Palin broke off their engagement in March 2009, and Levi had several public feuds with the Palin family for which he later apologized. The couple announced they were engaged again in July 2010, an engagement that ended in August 2010 after news that Levi may have fathered a baby with another girl.
He previously posed in Playgirl Magazine.
