Mark Carney Next Liberal Party Leader Canada Odds Set at Even
Under mounting pressure from his party, Justin Trudeau announced yesterday that he will resign and end his nine-year stretch as Canada's Prime Minister.
Trudeau said he would stay on in office until his Liberal Party can choose a new leader, and now there are betting markets for who that person will be.
BetOnline.ag has made Mark Carney the favorite to be the next party leader, but Chrystia Freeland is a very close second.
After that, you have a darkhorse in Dominic LeBlanc (8/1 odds) and then a host of longshots.
Additionally, there are odds for the party of the next Canadian Prime Minister, with the Conservative Party being a massive favorite.
The 1/15 odds imply a 93.8% probability the next PM will be from the Conservative Party.
Finally, after Trudeau’s exit, there are updated odds on the next “world leader” to leave his/her post. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is the favorite.
