The current U.S. president Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump have agreed to debate on CNN in June and the oddsmakers were quick to post numbers.

BetOnline has made Trump a slight favorite to be crowned the Debate champion at -140.  Biden pays even odds.

The result will be determined by "any poll co-sanctioned by CNN." The betting platform set if there is no such poll then any poll from Yougov, Ipsos or an aggregate of the two will be used.

"Obviously, the majority of America believes Biden stands no chance against Trump in a debate," BetOnline.ag political oddsmaker Paul Krishnamurty said. "And we're seeing that play out with these odds as 100% of the money wagered so far is on Trump. We'll keep moving the odds based on action, but Trump could end up a heavy favorite by the time June rolls around."

There is also a prop bet for whether or not the debate will be postponed or canceled. The odds for "Yes" are 3/1 while "No" comes back as a 1/5 favorite.

The two debates will take place earlier than is typical.   Both candidates will be taking a chance as the two face questions about their age.  Biden is 81 while Trump is four years younger.

“Because of these questions about his capacities, Biden has a lot at stake,” said David Axelrod, former senior adviser to President Barack Obama, in an interview with the Washington Post.  “But Trump has a lot at stake here too, because if Biden does pierce that narrative, it could change the dynamic of the race.”

Biden's team has only agreed to a one-on-one debate with Trump, thus excluding third party candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

“President Biden made his terms clear for two one-on-one debates, and Donald Trump accepted those terms,” campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement. “No more games. No more chaos, no more debate about debates.”
