Robinhood Looks Beyond Kalshi, Weighs Adding Crypto.com Prediction Markets
Sunday July 26, 2026 (10:24 am EDT)
Robinhood is discussing adding event contracts from Crypto.com to its prediction markets hub, a potential deal that would broaden the brokerage’s product range while increasing competition among regulated U.S. prediction market providers. The arrangement would allow Robinhood customers to trade Crypto.com’s yes-or-no contracts without leaving the brokerage’s app. The talks remain preliminary, and the companies may not reach an agreement. The brokerage has said it plans to work with multiple exchanges to provide customers with a broad and reliable marketplace. Adding Crypto.com would support that approach by expanding the number of external venues supplying contracts while reducing dependence on any single partner. (source: Finance Feeds)

Kalshi Threatens Netflix With Defamation Suit Over 'Prediction Games' Trailer
Sunday July 26, 2026 (10:24 am EDT)
Prediction market operator Kalshi sent Netflix a cease-and-desist letter on July 24, accusing the trailer for an upcoming documentary, 'Instadocs: The Prediction Games,' of containing defamatory and misleading content. The dispute centers on footage of a Kalshi bet that Netflix says predates a Nevada court ban on the platform's sports-event contracts. Kalshi's threat targets the trailer's portrayal of the company ahead of the documentary's premiere. No details on Netflix's response or the specific premiere date were available in the reports. Will Prediction Market ‘Catch Fire’ in UK, Replicating US Boom?
Sunday July 26, 2026 (10:24 am EDT)
Millions of people, particularly in the US, put their money at risk through prediction markets, betting on anything from the World Cup to the next Pope, to the likelihood of nuclear war. Polymarket and Kalshi have soared in popularity, in part thanks to the uneven pace at which US states have regulated sports betting since the US supreme court lifted a federal ban in 2018. While the platforms’ bread and butter is wagers placed on sport, they have convinced American regulators that they are financial trading products. This has allowed them to circumvent ongoing prohibition of sports wagers in multiple states, pending several legal challenges. With the wind at their backs, registered prediction markets are estimated to have attracted trading volumes of at least $45bn during the World Cup, according to the market data they publish. The Guardian looks at if this model can be replicated in the United Kingdom. Easier said than done. When it comes to the UK, the commission has been clear that prediction markets would need a gambling licence for sports trading.
