(Pamama City) - Six weeks ago, Morocco had 300-1 odds to become World Cup champions.
They are still the largest underdogs heading into the semifinal matches, but a surprising number of bettors are backing them against France.
SportsBetting.ag is reporting that just 56.7% of the money wagered so far is on France. In the other match, 58.9% of the action is on Argentina.
France is the only winner for the sportsbook in terms of futures odds. If Morocco wins the World Cup, the sportsbook will incur a loss in the mid five figures. Argentina is a low, five-figure loss while Croatia is a minimal loss (Croatia had 60-1 odds to start the tournament).
“We took a few crazy, tiny bets on Morocco at the outset of the tourney, which obviously add up to a decent liability,” SportsBetting.ag head trader, Robert Cooper, said. “And then as the Group Stage unfolded and their odds shortened, we kept seeing more and more money come in on Morocco.”
