The numbers are staggering.  Daily Fantasy Sports app PrizePicks continues to rule the roost in the space.  This comes despite a handful of state regulators putting the putting the kibosh on a pick'em type model they say too closely resembles that of player prop parlays found with traditional sports betting sites.

Last month, they witnessed 460K downloads according to the US App Store.  That's a little less than double that of their nearest competitor Fantasy Underdog at 278K.  Daily average downloads are 14.4K and growth was 20%.

James McLoughlin, the self-proclaimed "Acquisition Assassin", writes of PrizePicks:

PrizePicks is the # 1 sports app on the US App Store. They're putting up Doncic numbers.

In fact, the entire DFS category is juiced up

Despite the legislative microscope, the whole pick'em category is making serious hay while the sun shines.

And I hope she keeps shining. As customers f'n love the product!

The more they grow it seems, the more scrutiny comes their way.

In September, Florida's Gaming Control Commission became the latest to crack down on the pick'em model.  They sent a cease and desist order to PrizePicks, Underdog Fantasy and Betr.  Wyoming, Michigan and New York previously warned these companies not to offer this product in their respective states.

New York State Gaming Commissioners last month unanimously agreed to adopt NY sports betting Rule 5602.1(a)(4), which makes “explicit that [fantasy] contests shall not be based on proposition betting or contests that have the effect of mimicking proposition betting.”

For its part, PrizePicks continues to expand offerings.  This weekend the site will feature a tournament competition rewarding a $100,000 grand prize.  Celebrity endorsers will also take part.

"12 competitors from the PrizePicks ambassador community will engage in a three week long head-to-head, bracket-style tournament. Each week, competitors will strategically build their favorite 6-Pick Flex entry for Sunday football games, with the goal of most accurately predicting statistical outcomes for their favorite players. The contestant with the most correct picks in each matchup advances to the next round. In the event of a tie, the contestant with the highest number of fan supporters on PrizePicks riding their selections secures the win."

Site founder Adam Wexler:

"Big cross-functional effort comes to life this weekend with our first annual PrizePicks World Championship. The PrizePicks team has been hard at work putting this H2H bracket-style competition together using our core format and working in some of the biggest names from our community. More than anything, I'm excited for the broader community to be sweating alongside their favorite influencers."
