While not official yet, Polymarket traders now had Democrat Nithya Raman charging ahead of Republican Spencer Pratt to face off against incumbent LA mayor Karen Bass in the November general election for that city's next mayor. Bass had already been confirmed as advancing immediately following Tuesday's jungle primary.
Pratt, the former reality television star, still held the lead as of Saturday night, though his advantage had narrowed to within just 1 percentage point over Los Angeles City Councilwoman Nithya Raman.
L.A. County added another 58,558 votes in the mayor’s race, with Raman winning 40.16% of the batch — cutting Pratt’s second-place lead to just 7,494 votes earlier in the evening.
Raman is still sitting in third with 26.21% of the vote, Saturday night’s latest election numbers show. Pratt, a reality TV star, is now clinging to second with 27.32% of the vote.
On Saturday morning, Pratt held 28.24% of the vote in the June primary, while Raman trailed by multiple points at 24.89%. She has since gained significant ground in the race.
22% of the vote is still outstanding.
Most of the votes being counted at this time are mail-in ballots, which overwhelmingly tend to favor Democrats.
Traders were now giving Raman a 98% chance of advancing as of 10 pm EDT.
Pratt responded to the latest election numbers on social media with a meme of a complex math equation from the movie “A Beautiful Mind,” starring Russell Crowe.
“Me trying to figure out how votes get counted in LA,” Pratt wrote.
BetOnline will be offering odds on LA's next mayor odds shortly.
The LA Mayoral race, and its odds, had become the most trafficked story on the Gambling911.com website in recent days. Despite this, only $274,367 in volume had been traded at Polymarket on this race as of Saturday evening.
