BetOnline: Republicans Winning Both Chambers This Midterm Longest Odds Yet Paying Out $550 for Every $100 Bet

OAKLAND PARK, Fla (Gambling911.com) - US President Trump made a major promise at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas: $5,000 for every adult U.S. citizen if Republicans win both the House and Senate in the midterms.

“I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000.”

Whether that promises causes a shift in the odds remains to be seen.

Dave Mason of BetOnline revealed overnight that "Republicans to win both currently +550. Our worst outcome of the 4 options."

The payout is $550 for every $100 bet

While the Senate is mostly considered a toss up at BetOnline, the Democrats remain a heavy favorite to take back the House.

The $5000 a person proposal, which could cost at least $1 trillion, was financially and politically implausible. But it reflected Trump’s apparent calculation that he needs bold moves to revive Republicans’ chances as Democrats try to take advantage of his low approval ratings in close races across the country, The Associated Press suggests.

Trump reveled in making the upcoming elections all about himself, even though it’s unclear whether that will help or hurt his party. Many Republicans are skipping the two-day affair in Dallas, while others hoped their appearance would put them in the national spotlight as they work to turn out Trump’s supporters in a year without him on the ballot.

One thing to keep a close eye on are gas prices.

Here in Fort Lauderdale, the price of gas had mostly remained steady over the summer following a steep rise after the start of the conflict in Iran.  On Thursday, prices moved to their highest yet, from $3.99 last week to $4.19 on average.

In Miami Beach, Gambling911.com found prices as high as $5.00 while at least one station we visited had completely run out of all grades of gas except Regular Unleaded.
