Independent 2024 US presidential candidate Robert Kennedy has just qualified to appear on the Michigan ballot, a critical swing state.

This could prove to be a blow mainly to the presumed Democratic nominee and current US president Joe Biden.

While Biden won Michigan with more than 618,000 votes in the recent primary, more than 100,000 Michigan Democratic primary voters cast ballots for “uncommitted” in the race, enough to pick up a pair of delegates. The vote totals raise concerns for Democrats in a state Biden won by only 154,000 votes in 2020.

The grassroots campaign for the "uncommitted" selection came as a result of Biden's support for Israel’s war against Hamas.  Michigan has a significant Arab population that opposes the war in Gaza.

Michigan is the most important state RFK Jr. has qualified for thus far.  Poll numbers there indicate he is receiving just over 7% of the support from likely voters, Biden 41.6% and former US president and presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump 42.2%.

The environmental lawyer has also qualified for North Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska, Hawaii, Utah, Idaho, bringing his total to nine states, according to the campaign.

BetOnline has him at 22-1 odds compared to both Trump and Biden at -105 each.
