JACKSON, Miss (Gambling911.com) - Don't look now but some political pundits are believing that Democrat Scott Colom can actually pull off the victory in the Mississippi senate race.

Oddsmakers think otherwise. They have Cindy Hyde-Smith as a -1000 favorite. For all intent and purposes, that's considered to be a "lock".
But Colum pays a generous $600 for every $100 bet or $60 for every $10 bet.
Last week, Democrat Scott Colom’s campaign for U.S. Senate in Mississippi pushed a poll produced by Wedgewood Polls, saying the race with incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith is “tied.” But that poll has since proven to be fabricated.
Magnolia Tribune also pointed out that Wedgewood’s first published poll in June for the Louisiana U.S. Senate Republican Primary was widely off the mark, nearly a 13-point.
Wedgewood has reportedly acknowledged that nearly all its published surveys were fabricated, describing the operation as a social experiment.
But none of this takes away from the latest news that a top Democratic super PAC focused on U.S. Senate races announced Tuesday that it will spend $1.2 million on an ad campaign in Mississippi for Colom.
The ad, paid for by the Senate Majority PAC aligned with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York, marks the group’s first entry into Mississippi’s heated Senate race this cycle.
“Scott Colom is the senator Mississippi deserves – and he can win,” Schumer said on social media after the ad campaign announcement.
The odds are still long. The last time Mississippi elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate was 1982, when John C. Stennis won reelection to his seventh term.
