2014 Week 1 College Football Betting Lines, Predictions – Thursday Night Games
2014 Week 1 College Football betting lines for the Thursday night games and all of those being played this weekend appear below with betting available at BetPhoenix.com here.
The two big games being played are Texas A&M vs. South Carolina and Boise State vs. Ole Miss. Both favorites (the Aggies and Rebels) are -10.5 favorites, respectively.
The Broncos will face the Rebels in Atlanta. Both schools have performed admirably Against The Spread at neutral sites. However, we will note that the Georgia Dome is not exactly neutral when once considers it is a mere 4 hour drive between Oxford, Mississippi and Atlanta, Georgia. Fans WILL make the trek there. Mark our word.
Boise State isn’t ranked to start a season for the first time since 2008.
Mark Rogers TV brings up an important point regarding the Boise State vs. Mississippi preview video below: The Broncos cornerbacks are small compared to the Ole Miss and Laquon Treadwell, at 6’3, is expected to tower over them, providing a huge advantage for the Rebels passing game. Cleshawn Page and Donte Deayon are both under 6 feet as are each of their backups.
The line on this game did open at -9.5 and has moved to -11 at a few of the online books and in Vegas. Nearly 75% of the betting public is backing Boise State here.

Texas A&M is expected to take quite a hit this season with the loss of Johnny Manziel yet South Carolina also lost a more pivotal part of their team with defensive end Jadeveon Clowney heading to the NFL.
The Aggies led the SEC in scoring (44.2 ppg) and total offense (538.4 yards) for the second straight season. While the odds are low of this happening again in 2014, much of the key players remain intact. Kenny Hill was expected to start at the time this was going to press.
The defense is a different story as they have lost both defensive tackle Isaiah Golden and linebacker Darian Claiborne, leaving the Aggies thin.
It’s no wonder that nearly 90% of those betting this game were backing South Carolina.
It is also important to note that South Carolina has won 18 straight home games, the longest active streak among FBS schools. They have gone 9-5 Against The Spread at home over that time.
As a favorite of 10.5 to 21 points, they have won all 8 games played over the past three seasons Straight Up while covering five of those.
In road games, Boise State won 7 of 9 Straight Up over the past three seasons.
We have a good prediction for this game from the fine folks at Pregame.com. Expert handicapper Brian Leonard explains why he likes the UNDER 59.
