Bet the Yankees-Rays Series July 30-31
You can bet the Yankees-Rays series this weekend with Saturday’s game featuring a line of Tampa Bay -130, the Yankees +120 and a total of 7.5.
The UNDER is 13-3 in the Yankees last 16 overall and 16-4-2 in Tampa Bay’s last 22 overall.
Furthermore, the UNDER is 15-6-2 in the last 23 meetings between these two ball clubs.
Six of the last ten games in this series have gone UNDER Saturday’s 7.5 total.
SATURDAY PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees RH Nathan Eovaldi (9-6, 4.80) vs. Rays LH Drew Smyly (2-11, 5.42)
Eovaldi improved to 1-2 versus the Rays on May 29 after permitting just one run on six hits in as many innings of a 2-1 triumph.
One of Smyly's two victories this season came at the expense of New York. He is 2-0 with one save with a 1.71 ERA against the Yankees while limiting the club to a .168 batting average.
Smyly has allowed five or more runs in six of his last starts though.
The UNDER is 10-4 in Eovaldi’s last 14 starts vs. American League East.
The UNDER 24-9-2 in Rays last 35 home games vs. a right-handed starter.
While we have little faith in Smyly, the UNDER trend for both teams and his desperation for a win coupled with a solid history pitching against the Yankees will lead us to take the UNDER 7.5 here.
Michael Pineda, starting for the Yankees on Sunday, has been roughed up by this Rays roster, allowing 25 hits on 84 at bats and five home runs. Thus, it might be prudent to avoid the UNDER here.
