Braves vs. Marlins Series Betting Pick, Line and DFS Plays – May 17
Gambling911.com has your Braves vs. Marlins series betting line for Sunday afternoon May 17.
Atlanta was coming in with a line of +120 while the Marlins had a line of -130 as the favorites. The total was 7 for this game.
Shelby Miller (4-1, 1.60) was slated to start for Atlanta. Henderson Alvarez (0-2, 4.50) was slated to start for Miami and is coming off the DL. Both teams are hovering a few games under the .500 mark.
It is odd to have Atlanta open at +120 here when Miller comes into this game with the 4th best ERA among starting pitchers in the league. After all, he's allowed two or fewer runs in each of his seven starts this season and is striking out 7.34 batters per nine innings. Miller has only permitted more than 5 hits (six) in one of those starts.
Marlins stud Giancarlo Stanton has gone 3-for-9 against Miller with two homers and three RBIs. Dee Gordon, currently with a .425 ERA, has also hit well against Miller (going 4-for-12 at bats).
Miller has only allowed a single run and seven hits in two starts versus Miami earlier this season and we don’t see that trend changing much here.
Only one of seven games he has started in this season has gone OVER the current total of 7.
Atlanta is a weak hitting team and not expected to score many runs against Alvarez, who has held all but Chris Johnson below .334 among those with 3 at bats or more. Fortunately for Johnson, Alvarez is on the DL.
Freddie Freeman deserves some consideration today from daily fantasy players, having gone 6-for-18 vs. Alvarez with 5 RBIs and 3 extra bases.
Sure one can argue Miller is due for a bad outing while Alvarez may be a little shaky coming off the DL but everything points to this one staying UNDER 7.
