Yankees @ Orioles –
For Bettors, five of the last seven games in this series have totaled 9 or more. The Yankees had scored 5 or more runs in ten of their last twelve games coming into Friday. Seven of ten games played at Yankees Stadium in this series totaled 8 or more last season. The OVER should be considered with a total of 8 or less.
For DFS Players: New York starting pitcher Michael Pineda allowed five runs against Baltimore the last time he faced them. The reality is that only a handful of Orioles players have had success against him using a sample over 4 at bats.
They include JJ Hardy (6-for-11 with three homeruns), Adam Jones (6-for-17 at bats with two doubles, 4 RBIs) and Manny Machado (3-for-6 with one RBI).
Hardy had hit in six of his last ten games with just one run prior to Wednesday but only held a sorry .204 ERA.
Jones is an absolute “must have” in your lineup. He’s hit 10-for-24 over the past seven days prior to Wednesday with 10 runs including 3 homers. He’s priced decent at $3400.
ESPN.com notes of Machado's .263/.320/.455 slash line that it isn't great, but he's played in every game so far this season and is on pace to establish new career highs in home runs, RBI and runs scored if he can just manage to stay healthy.
Phillies @ Pirates -
For Bettors,
Philadelphia had scored 5 or more runs in their last nine games. Eight of those went OVER 8. Jeff Locke has permitted at least 4 runs in six of his last ten games. He allowed no more than two runs in his two starts against Pittsburgh last season. We would be especially careful going with the OVER here despite the favorable lean towards the high scoring on Philadelphia’s end. Pittsburgh has scored four or more runs in 12 of their last 13 games.
For DFS Players:
Jeff Francoeur was 2-for-4 with four RBIs thanks to a homer on Saturday for Philadelphia. He was 1-for-1 on Sunday. He’s hit in six of his last ten, four of which included at least two hits prior to Wednesday. Then on Wednesday, he hit 2-for-4 against the Reds, one being a double. Priced at just $2700, he’s a good option against
Indians @ Tigers
For Bettors and DFS Players:
Two of what we would consider to be aces take to the mound in Friday’s game.
Danny Salazar was dominant Saturday, allowing just one run on six hits and a walk over seven innings while striking out 10 to pick up his sixth win of the season. He only permitted one run against the Tigers earlier in the season.
Be careful though as Miguel Cabrera (6-for-17), Ian Kinsler (5-for-12) and Nick Castellanos (4-for-11 with two doubles) have each performed well against him. Castallanos has been a bit cold of late. We still believe Salazar could have a solid outing here.
Carlos Santana has hit in seven of his last ten games and has been especially impressive going up against David Price, for whom he is 7-for-20 with four doubles.
Five of the last six in this series have gone OVER 10. This game will likely feature a total of 7 so the OVER should be looked at carefully.
Diamondbacks @ Giants
For Bettors:
This one can essentially go either way on the total based on recent head-to-heads. Arizona is suddenly having some trouble scoring with five of six games totaling no more than 3 runs. In five of the last six games, the Giants have scored 4 or more runs.
Chase Anderson has gone 7 of his last 10 games without allowing more than 2 runs. He has only faced Casey McGehee on the Giants roster.
Madison Bumgarner was roughed up for five runs on six hits over eight innings Saturday, allowing two home runs including a grand slam by Jeff Francoeur, but still came away with his seventh win of the season. He struck out 11.
For DFS Players:
Ender Inciarte – He went 2-for-4 Tuesday against the Dodgers. He was caught stealing for the fifth time this season. Inciarte is red hot right now and ready to take on Bumgarner, for whom he is 6-for-15 against with a .400 ERA.
Athletics @ Angels
For DFS Players:
Albert Puljols is 7 for 16 against Jesse Chavez with 4 RBIs.
White Sox @ Rays
For DFS Players:
Danny DeJesus had gone through a stretch of five games without hitting. He went 1-for-3 against the Angels on Tuesday. He’s solid against John Danks, going 9-for-25 with three extra base hits and five RBIs.
