LSU-TCU Prediction: Week 1 (Bet Online)
Gambling911.com has your LSU-TCU prediction for Week 1 of the 2013 College Football betting season courtesy of Bet Online.
Blake Frazier of BetOnline put it simply:
The Tigers simply have more strength and more resources in reserve than the Horned Frogs do. Phrased differently, LSU has much more margin for error than TCU does.
Frazier likes LSU to cover big time with a line of -4.
Three players, two of them starters, up and left the Horned Frogs team. Guard Michael Thompson, after multiple knee surgeries, retired from football due to bad health (a series of injuries that took a collective toll). Starting linebacker Joel Hasley left the program as well. Hasley, according to people in and around the program, including head coach Gary Patterson, flatly lost interest in football. Starting offensive tackle Tayo Fabuluje did not report to campus on July 31 in time for training camp. LSU is not as skilled as it was in past years, but the Tigers remain a physical and tenacious team – head coach Les Miles always gets his guys to play with determination. If TCU can’t hang with LSU in the trenches, this game is going to spiral out of control for the Horned Frogs.
Frazier noted that TCU is capable of defending but struggled on offense much of last year.
Experts across the board have LSU easily winning against TCU straight up, and since this line is pretty nominal, the Tigers should be able to cover.
The oddsmakers at BetOnline have TCU with an OVER/UNDER 8 regular season wins with the UNDER favored at +125. The consensus among experts is that the Horned Frogs will win 8 games so this looks more like a PUSH when it comes to the future betting option.
LSU is favored to win UNDER 9 regular season games at -135 with the OVER paying +105 odds. This looks like yet another push opportunity with the consensus of experts believing the Tigers can win 9.
