The Dodgers RH Roberto Hernandez (8-11, 4.06 ERA) has had it rough of late but, as a member of the Phillies, held Cubs hitters to a .162 average.
The Cubs RH Felix Doubront (4-5, 5.00) allowed five runs the last time he faced LA.
This could provide Hernandez the perfect opportunity to regroup after a solid starting career with the Dodgers.
The Cubs are 1-10 in their last 11 vs. a team with a winning record and 2-10 in their last 12 games as an underdog.
Tigers/Royals UNDER 7 – Here we have a situation where two solid pitchers are coming off of bad outings that were not exactly terrible but did manage to disrupt their previous successful streaks.
In the case of The Royals RH James Shields (14-7, 3.15) it was 18 1/3 total scoreless innings before giving up three runs on Monday.
For the Tigers RH Max Scherzer (16-5, 3.26 ERA) it was giving up four runs over seven frames in Minnesota but he is 10-5 vs. Kansas City with a 3.74 ERA in 20 career starts. Even more impressive, however, is that Detroit is 13-3 in Scherzer's last 16 starts vs. KC.
Detroit has won seven of its eight games at Kauffman Stadium this season.
