The 49ers have upside, they are surging, they seem to be pushing the envelope at times as well. They have a good defense, a solid offense with a quarterback that can run, and they are going to meet a Carolina team that hasn’t exactly blown teams out. Not only that, they are coming off of a bye week, which means that you’re going to see a lot of energy through the gate when this game kicks off in Week 10.
The Panthers aren’t awful, they just may be a little unbalanced. You will want to look into their good side though, as they are ranked 2 at stopping the running game. If the 49ers cannot establish a solid running game, they are going to be getting hit hard on the other side of the football. The 49ers need that #1 ranked rushing offense, as their passing game is awful, ranked 32 overall. The Panthers have upside on their side with their defense, and they can definitely put a hurting on teams with their front seven defenders. They are quite good, and the 49ers haven’t been tested nearly as much as some professionals have said that they have.
The Match Up:
A defensive struggle is what this game is going to turn out to be. Look for Cam Newton will be definitely looking to put on a show this time around, and even ESPN’s analysts are taking the Panthers on this one because of it. The Carolina offense is flourishing right now, so much so that even at underdogs the Panthers are looking like they could upset the 49ers. Even so, look for a strong San Francisco showing and a win that will push them into the post season again. We’re going with San Francisco at – 6.
