Raiders vs. Jets Betting Line: Chris Johnson Could Prove Explosive on Offense
The Raiders vs. Jets betting line for Week 1 of the 2014 NFL regular season was set at -5.5 New York. Nearly 75% of the action was on New York. The line has moved up a point since opening earlier this spring.
The UNDER is 6-2 in the last eight openers for the New York Jets with the total set at 40 here.
One interesting stat of note is that the Jets rushing offense ranks number 4 at home and we are likely to see improvements with Chris Johnson joining the team. As a result, odds are good the Jets may buck that UNDER trend.
"When I was in Tennessee, a lot of the plays when the offensive coordinator was calling them, they were predictable," Johnson told ESPN.com. "Everybody could tell what was coming. With Marty [Mornhinweg], the plays aren't predictable."
Johnson is referring to the Jets coordinator for whom he says is “the smartest coordinator he's had since 2010".
Raiders +4.5 Jets/Total 40 
Johnson insists he was held back while playing for the Titans over the past three seasons. Prior to this he ran for 2,006 yards.
We would be remiss in pointing out that Oakland managed to cover the current total in five of their last six games of the 2013 regular season.
