Saints Hoping Brees Can Play
Head coach Sean Payton wasn’t giving any indication as to whether or not Brees would play on Sunday. "It'll be day to day, we'll report it on our injury list," Payton said, "We'll make sure we're getting the reps we need at that position." Brees has not played that well anyway but there is definitely a drop off between Brees and backup Luke McCown although Payton said the offense won’t change much. "The traits that Luke McCown has, in regards to similarities, it's not like we have a whole zone read package with one and a drop back package with another," Payton said.
Saints Problems Deeper than Brees
The Saints have a lot of problems on both sides of the ball. Brees is no longer a great quarterback but the defense is awful and the team is making a ton of mistakes. "There are a number of things we've got to work on cleaning up and there's a sense of urgency, obviously, to get those things corrected or we'll have the same type of result," Payton said.
