Stanford’s disciplined football program will come face to face with a wildcard team in the Washington Huskies. Last year, they fought hard and still lost, and this week the two are going to face a defensive battle that is going to take every last bit of effort from both teams to get moving forward.

Current line: Washington +7 ½/ Over & Under at 47 ½

Time:  Saturday, October 5, 10:30 pm (EST) ESPN, Watchespn.com

Washington at the present is ranked 15 in the nation, and that is a good thing, but Stanford is ranked at 5th overall. The Pac-12 is a competitive conference, and this time around both teams are poised to just battle it out and see who is more physical, and more disciplined. There are bound to be mistakes made in this game of high contention, and that’s where you’ll find the winner gets the edge. It is going to be a close one through 3 quarters for sure, but watch out for the last quarter, as that will really shine as this game starts to fall off the rails.

Steve Sarkisian has done some great things with the Washington program, and they even took out larger teams in their prime, like USC a few years back. Washington has turned into a defensive powerhouse thanks in large part to the addition of Justin Wilcox. The team is going to be hitting hard, so Stanford may not just blow out another team here, they are going to have to fight hard to get every single yard as the Huskies aren’t set to let up on their end.

The Match Up:

Washington is going to have to step up their protection on the ball, and will contend with a Cardinal defense that is known for their blitzes. If they continue to shoot through the offensive line, like they have in the past, you’ll find that the Washington Huskies will have a hard time moving the ball. Derek Mason has really changed the scope of the Cardinal defense and all for the better, which makes this match up quite intriguing overall. Stanford is strong, but Washington has edged out much tougher teams in the past, so watch for them to take on the challenge and overcome, but just barely at +7 ½.

The Edge:

Washington +7 ½

SportsCashSystem.com Prediction: Washington +7 ½
