Why Bet The Cubs-Cardinals Over – Game 1 April 18
Eight of the last ten games in this series have gone OVER the current total of 8: No better reason we can think of to bet the OVER 8 here.
Did we mention that the OVER occurred in 15 of the last 22 games in this series, 5 of the last 7 games Chicago has played and 7 of the last 9 games the Cards have played in.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs RH John Lackey (2-0, 5.68 ERA) vs. Cardinals RH Mike Leake (0-1, 6.97)
Lackey has never faced the Cardinals, but did go 11-4 with a 2.03 ERA at Busch Stadium over the past two seasons.
Leake, meanwhile, has permitted four runs in each of his two starts with the Cards so far this season. He’s been solid against the Cubs though, going 9-2 with a 3.15 ERA and winning his last five decisions against Chicago over the last three seasons.
Two of last year’s three games against the Cubs for which Leake started in went OVER the current total.
Of special notes, the Cardinals are tied with Cincinnati for the most errors in the league so far this season: 14.
