The 2009 Open Championship betting odds have been posted by Sportingbet.com with Tiger Woods the +163 favorite (nearly 2/1 odds), which would pay out US$163 for every US$100 bet.  The biggest surprise is that defending Open Championship winner, Padraig Harrington, would pay an amazing  $US3300 for every US$100 bet.  He has won the event two years in a row.

"Obviously the oddsmakers believe the odds are much longer that Harrington will win a third straight year," says Alistair Prescott of Gambling911.com.

Woods was the only entrant with single digit odds.  The next shortest odds to win the 2009 Open Championship belonged to Sergio Garcia, who would pay out US$1600 for every US$100 bet.

Anthony Kim, Jim Furyk, Rory McIlroy would each pay out US$2200 for every US$100 bet.

The Open Championship is the most bet on sporting event in the United Kingdom.
