Among the favorite 2009 Super Bowl betting props:  Which team will score first?

Oddsmakers at Bookmaker.com have made Pittsburgh the favorite to score first with -150 odds.   The Arizona Cardinals pay $120 for every $100 bet.

"This is one of those prop bets that gets lots of action," explains Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.  "The reason is that it's a quick fix.  No waiting through the game to see if a bets a winner or not.  You could actually know if your bet has won or lost within the first minute of play."

Another great bet, similar along these lines, is whether either team scores within the first 7 ½ minutes.  Remembering that Pittsburgh is a solid defensive team, the "No" might have some good value, paying $140 for every $100 bet.  The "Yes" has very little value as you will need to lay $170 just to win $100 (you'll get the $170 +$100 back only if the bet is a winner).

Here is a bit of Super Bowl trivia:  The fastest score in a Super Bowl game was the Chicago Bears in 2007.  That touchdown happened in the first 14 seconds of the game, which they eventually lost.

Other scores occurring within 5 minutes in a Super Bowl were:

0:14 CHI vs. IND - 2007

1:24 S.F. vs. S.D. - 1995

1:57 DEN vs. WAS - 1988

3:32 G.B. vs. N.E. - 1997

4:02 G.B. vs. DEN - 1998
