NCAA Football Betting -- College Football Playoff Championship: Georgia Should Rule the Roost Again
Okay, we're down to the last two teams that will compete for the NCAA football championship in what has become known as the College Football Playoff.
Amidst the sea of college bowl games BetAdrian.lv customers will watch, the titleholder was coming from among four schools ahead of Saturday's big Playoffs games. In order of seeding, they were Georgia, Michigan, TCU and Ohio State.
In the end, it was TCU and Georgia. Texas Christian won but that game was not without its controversies as officials overturned what many believed to be a Michigan touchdown. Additionally in the final play of the game as Michigan got into scoring position, TCU defensive back Kee'Yon Stewart appeared to lower his head as he approached Wolverines tight end Colston Loveland at the same time he was being tackled by a pair of TCU defenders. Officials declined to call a targeting penalty.
The Horned Frogs walked away with a 51-45 victory. The Wolverines were without their most formidable weapon, and it showed. All-American Blake Corum, certainly one of the top running backs in the country, was having knee surgery. When a guy with 1,463 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns is missing, you'll feel it.
Statistically, Michigan's defense was second in the nation this season, giving up 277.1 yards per game, but the Wolverines did surrender 456 to Ohio State.
Undefeated Georgia just squeaked by Ohio State with the 42-41 win in the final seconds of this game. The Bulldogs had to storm back to win. The Buckeyes had one final shot to win, but Noah Ruggles' 50-yard field goal attempt sailed wide left with 3 seconds left.
Georgia does not have the glittering defensive numbers it posted last season. But the Bulldogs strike a very favorable balance, ranking eighth in Total Offense and tenth in Total Defense. And they have a unique weapon at their disposal.
TCU made it into the playoffs even though they won five games by eight points or less (including a last-second win over Baylor that was pure luck) and took a 31-28 loss to Kansas State in what was a thrilling Big 12 title game.
Their defense got mixed results this season, allowing over 500 yards to both Kansas and Baylor, but holding Texas and star running back Bijan Robinson to just 199. The Horned Frogs quarterback, Max Duggan, has rushed for 404 yards and passed for 3,321, with 30 touchdowns and just four interceptions.
In the Odds to Win the NCAA championship at BetAdrian.lv, Georgia was as much as a 13.5-point favorite over TCU.
It's the Bulldogs... again to win, according to our friends at BetAdrian. Sorry if that's not a surprise. Whether they can cover or not is a different story.
