2023 Wimbledon Betting Preview
There are some terrific tennis tournaments across the calendar and the globe, but only one Wimbledon. There’s no other as popular or with as much prestige as the grass in London. Wimbledon 2023 begins this Monday (July 3rd), and will run through Sunday, July 16th.
The two weeks in July include all the top players in the world.
Here is a look at the men’s and women’s Wimbledon brackets, with a quick betting preview on each side of the only Grand Slam event played on the turf.
Djokovic, Until Otherwise
Get past Novak Djokovic and win the prize. If not the greatest men’s player in history, then damn close. He’s after a third consecutive win at Wimbledon, and an eighth overall. All part of a record 23 Grand Slam titles.
It’s no surprise that he’s the prohibitive favorite (-140) to get the job done yet again, according to Wimbledon men’s odds.
Carlos Alcaraz (+300), who may well be top seed in this tourney, is the solid second choice in the wagering, the only other player under double figures on the board. If the board is correct, the final should see those two players.
…and the Ladies?
While there’s a clear betting favorite with the men, that’s not the case on the women’s side at Wimbledon. Aryna Sabalenka, defending champion Elena Rybakina and Iga Swiatek are tri-favorites, priced at +400, as per Wimbledon women’s odds.
That means all three should be in the mix. While those ladies lead the rest of the draw, expect some surprises with the women.
Odds bunch together noticeably after that, so there’s some value to be had. Cori (“Coco”) Gauff is listed at +1800 to win, and that bet could offer a lot of value,
Wimbledon has seen some lesser-known entries play the best tennis of their careers, and that may once again be the case this season.
Rybakina is clearly comfortable playing on the grass, but she is not nearly the lock Djokovic appears to be when it comes to defending a title at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Do not expect her to repeat in July.
Swiatek has been extremely consistent over the last few years, and the player to target with our wager. Take her (at +400) to win the women’s title at Wimbledon.
