Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers opened as -7 favorites at Pinnacle Sports and now they are listed with odds of -4 at home. Why?

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is expected to play but with a shoulder injury.

Most online sports books were not offering a line on this game as of Friday night. Bookmaker.com was an exception, and they had the Packers as just a -4 favorite.

Surprisingly, Gambling911.com has determined this line should be Green Bay -5 to -5 ½ so Bookmaker is not taking into account the possibility that Rodgers will not play.

Rodgers hurt his throwing shoulder in the third quarter when he reached the ball out trying to get a first down and was tackled hard. He initially thought he separated the shoulder, but the Packers (2-2) are calling it a sprain.

If he's healthy, Rodgers will be making his fifth start since taking over for Brett Favre, who started a quarterback-record 253 consecutive regular-season games for Green Bay before he was traded to the New York Jets.

"Listen, I want to play every game," Rodgers said. "I don't need that, ‘Oh, you've got to play because Brett played 250 in a row.' I don't need that. I have pride in myself. I've played with some serious injuries before, so that's personal pride. I don't need any extra fuel to play."

"He's very positive, feels that he's improving," McCarthy said, "and I'm going to give him every possible chance to play in the game."

McCarthy hopes to have Rodgers back, given the struggles of the Packers' running game. Green Bay was held to a season-low 181 yards of total offense against the Buccaneers on Sunday, including only 28 yards rushing-its fewest rushing yards since having only 21 in a loss to Minnesota in 2005.

Green Bay has won the last three in this series by 6 or more points. They are 7-1-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS loss.

Bookmaker.com is now offering a 25 percent signup bonus to Gambling911.com readers.
