Forget the fact that California hasn't regulated sports betting yet.  There are still plenty of options.  From internationally licensed (offshore) sites like BetPhoenix to Daily Fantasy Sports sites like PrizePicks to the local bookie, there are plenty of ways to still bet sports from California.  And now we have one more.....

Kalshi Prediction Market

Kalshi is a federally regulated prediction betting market that is available to those in California.

Kalshi has offered markets on major sporting events, such as the NCAA March Madness tournament as well as The Masters, which just set records with greater than $86 million in volume bet over the course of four days.

Users could trade on questions like "Will [Team] win their next game?" These contracts differ from traditional sports bets in that they can be traded like stocks, allowing users to buy or sell positions before the event concludes.

There are limits however.  Kalshi doesn't offer futurs pricing like that you will find at offshore sports betting sites.  Rory McIlroy would have paid close to $600 for every $100 bet with his Masters win at BetPhoenix, for example.

Likewise, you won't find player prop bets for baseball, basketball and football at Kalshi, not yet at least.

"We’re not a sportsbook. We’re an exchange. That means we’re regulated, at the federal level, by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)," the Kalshi website proclaims.

"As such, we are 100% legal everywhere in the US, including Washington, DC and other US Territories. Hell, if you happen to be in Guam or American Samoa, we’ve still got you covered."
