The Brett Favre saga continued Wednesday but by late evening, the former Green Bay Packer was now officially with the New York Jets.

A source close to the New York Jets told Gambling911.com Wednesday night that "It looks like Brett Favre is coming here". The individual who provided us with this information wished not to be named, however, members of the team have been told to expect him.

CBS station WCBS-TV in New York City confirmed the acquisition within minutes of this report being published here.

When Favre landed in Hattiesburg, Miss., he confirmed that his trade options were down to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jets; the Packers were continuing to negotiate with both for compensation, according to a New York Times report. These were the only teams that maintained an interest in Favre, the paper points out.

It's in everyone's best interest to do it quicker than later," Favre told The Hattiesburg American. "I won't say we're running out of time, but I need to get into a camp somewhere," Favre said.

A number of online odds makers had scratched both the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers from its betting menu on Wednesday in anticipation of an announcement.

Bookmaker.com - the oldest North American facing online sports book - still listed the New York Jets odds of winning the AFC Championship at +4500 for a $4500 potential payout on every $100 bet. +7000 odds were posted on the Jets to win the 2009 Super Bowl. Tampa had odds of +1200 to win the NFC.

"These odds would be slashed if not locked in immediately should Favre join either team," Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com advised.

Bookmaker.com was slow to react following the WCBS report, maintaining the very long odds well past midnight.
