The Boston College vs. Purdue game goes off at 7:00 pm Eastern - ESPN 2 tonight. SBG Global presents its college basketball betting preview.

SBG Global Opening Line: Purdue   -  8.5 ,  Total  135

Semifinal action in the preseason NIT takes center stage on ESPN 2 on Wednesday night as #10 Purdue faces Boston College.  The Boilermakers defeated Eastern Michigan and Loyola-Chicago to make it to the semifinals while Boston College defeated Loyola-Maryland and St. John's.

SBG Global reports that early college basketball line has the public taking Purdue at Home.

This is the fourth time the Boilermakers have played in the preseason NIT and the second time they have made it to the semifinals.  The Boilermakers have been led this season by Robbie Hummel and Marcus Green. In the win over Loyola, Green had 12 points and 10 rebounds.  The Boilermakers have not been challenged in any of their four wins this season. Purdue was picked this year to win the Big 10 and Hummel was selected as the favorite for the Player of the Year award. "It's nice for the team to be recognized as a good team," head coach Matt Painter said, "but I don't put a lot of weight on the preseason selections. Over the past 15 seasons, only six of the teams that have been picked by the media to win the league have actually accomplished the feat. Being picked to win the conference doesn't guarantee anything."

Boston College is making their second ever appearance in the preseason NIT.  This is the first time they have made it to the college basketball betting semifinals.  Boston College has an all-time record of 38-46 at Madison Square Garden.  The Eagles are led by Tyrese Rice.  He scored 28 points in the win against St. John's. Rice has scored in double figures 77 times in his career.  Boston College enters Wednesday's game with a 3-1 record, having lost at St. Louis 53-50 on Saturday.

Boston College is averaging 75.5 points per game this season. The Eagles have four players who are in double figures in scoring per game, Tyrese Rice, Joe Trapani, Corey Raji and Rakim Sanders. BC scored 80 or more points in each of its first three games. Boston College is allowing 61.2 points per game. The Eagles are forcing 14.3 turnovers per game and making 6 steals per game.

SBG Global Current Line: Purdue   -  8.5 ,  Total  135

Wednesday's game should be a showcase game for Hummel and Rice.  The difference is that Purdue has other players that can score while Boston College really does not.
