Two big College Bowl games were kicking off starting at 4:30 pm EST New Year's Day following the Capital One Bowl (bookmakers no longer taking bets on the Capital One Bowl at press time).

Unlike the Capital One Bowl, with odds that were all over the map from -7 ½ to -10 in favor of Georgia, the lines on both the Orange Bowl and Rose Bowl had pretty much remained stable throughout the day Thursday.

USC was a -9 favorite at more than 75 percent of the online sportsbooks when we checked shortly before 1 pm EST. Maybe with good reason too.  The Trojans are 14-3 ATS in their last 17 games as a favorite of 3.5 to 10.0 points.  They are 8-0 ATS vs. the Big 10.

70 percent of the betting action was going USC's way.

The Orange Bowl goes off at 8:30 pm EST and that one had settled in at between -2 and -2 ½ in favor of Cincinnati.  The action on this game was nearly even.

Virginia Tech destroyed Cincinnati the last time they played in 2006.  Not that it matters much.  Back than Cincy was a huge +27 underdog.  They've improved dramatically since that time.

It was the Capital One Bowl earlier on Thursday getting the most lopsided action with Georgia as the -9 ½ favorite.  Oddsmakers had to move that line up from -7 to encourage betting on the other side since more than 85 percent of action was going the Bulldogs way even after the line moved up and closed at -9 ½.
