College Football Betting: Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma
When it comes to this weekend's College Football betting, no game is being more sought after than the Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Oklahoma Sooners.
With Texas Tech coming into this one as a +7 underdog at Bookmaker.com and, thus far, undefeated - Gambling911.com says "Do the math!".
This weekend we find out if the Red Raiders are indeed for real. They are going up against a Sooners team that itself has only lost one game this season.
From Yahoo Sports Inside Slant:
Texas Tech fans can be honest with themselves for one moment-this is without a doubt the biggest game in school history. And it's at Memorial Stadium.
"Well, it's loud. I consider it the second-loudest place in the conference," coach Mike Leach said. "It's a tough environment, tough sideline. Loud, it's a great environment for football, it's one of my greatest places to play ever."
Unlike the hurdle of beating then-No. 1 Texas, this game will be played in Norman, Okla., where Tech has not won a game since 1996.
In fact, nearly every number goes against Tech:
-Last time Tech won an outright conference title: 1955
-Last time Tech went undefeated through the regular season: 1938
-Last time Tech beat Oklahoma and Texas in the same season: Never
The latter might be the biggest one. That is what makes the game bigger than Tech (10-0, 6-0 Big 12) could have imagined. Fans around Lubbock, Texas have already begun to plan the road trips and convince professors to move presentations and tests to help get a head start on the 400-mile trip.
The home team in this series has been dominant for sure, winning 8 of the last 10. Nearly all of Oklahoma's 7 of 10 wins in this series except for a single game was won by more than the current 7 point spread. And the last time this game was played in Oklahoma (in 2006), Texas Tech was also a +7 ½ underdog. They lost that one by 10 points.
But Texas Tech has gotten very good over the past 3 years, winning their two home games in this series. Prior to 2005, The Red Raiders were a +25 ½ road dog in 2004 and a double digit home dog in 2003.
One of the most stand out stats perhaps is that Oklahoma is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a Straight Up win.
Still, we can't ignore the idea that Oklahoma may have a better shot at winning this game but Texas Tech should keep it closer than the 7 point spread.
Gambling911.com is going with Texas Tech here to cover the +7 at Bookmaker.com.
