Confederations Cup Betting Odds

Having been listed with Confederations Cup Final betting odds of +600 overnight at Bookmaker.com for a payout potential of $600 on every $100 bet, USA odds were now cut to +550 Sunday morning just hours before the big showdown against mighty Brazil.

The U.S. team was still the single most bet on side of any sporting event on Sunday, receiving more action than the two marquee baseball teams, the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

"Without Team USA in the Confederations Cup Final we'd be looking at a routine betting event for most of these online sportsbooks," commented Alistair Prescott of Gambling911.com.   "Throw Team USA in the equation and suddenly we have ourselves a surprise money maker for these US-facing online sportsbooks like Bookmaker.com."

The final week of June is widely considered the slowest in the world of online sportsbooks catering to the U.S. market, with NFL and College Football bettors slowly beginning to trickle in during the month of July before the usual betting frenzy as we enter into August.

Confederations Cup Final betting has helped sustain the online gambling firms during this slow period, which has been made worse by a worldwide recession.

"People are still betting," says Gambling911.com Senior Editor, Payton O'Brien.  "They are just placing smaller denomination bets.  We are seeing a lot of $5 and $10 wagers where $50 to $100 used to be the norm on average."

Odds on Sunday's Confederations Cup Final varied across the board but Bookmaker.com was now more in sync with its competition, most of which had been offering the +550 odds overnight.

Getting bets in early (well before the 2 pm EST start time) was essential Sunday.
