BetDSI.com has your Cotto vs. Geale fight odds: Miguel Cotto -650, Daniel Geale +450

Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KO’s)

Cotto lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Austin Trout in 2012 but he bounced back to defeat Delvin Rodriguez in 2013 and he defeated Sergio Martinez last year. Cotto is now looking at two fights this year with this bout against Geale and a matchup against Alvarez. “I am happy and excited to be back in New York and fighting at Barclays Center,” said Cotto. “This is another chapter in my career and I’m committed to train as hard as always and bring a big victory.”

This will be the 12th time that Cotto has fought in New York. "It's going to be great to be at a new place in New York," Cotto said. "My fans are in New York and I love fighting there."

Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KO’s)

Geale is a former three-time middleweight champion but two of his three losses have come in his last four fights. He lost to Darren Barker in 2013 and he was knocked out by Gennady Golovkin last year. Geale is now a big underdog in this fight against Cotto. Geale realizes that he can’t go toe to toe with Cotto and expect to win. "I have to be switched on and smart," said Geale. "I have to make him miss, I have to frustrate him. If I stand in front of Cotto . . . go toe to toe . . . that'll play right into his hands.

I feel like I fight at my best when my feet are working well with my hands. Sometimes when I plant my feet and try to tough it out with them I come back to their level.” Geale does have a big height and reach advantage over Cotto so he might be able to move around and frustrate Cotto in this bout. Geale also believes he is a better fighter since the loss to Golovkin. "Things have changed a lot since Golovkin," said Geale. "Experience is great, I've had some tough fights and I have grown from that one.”

Fight Notes

This fight on June 6th will be at 157 lbs which was requested by Cotto. "I had to do it before when I faced Manny Pacquiao. He made me come down to 145 pounds," Cotto said, "Pacquiao used any advantage he had against me and I will do the same with everybody in the division. I am a small middleweight and I need to use this to my advantage." If Cotto defeats Geale as expected he would get a bout against Canelo Alvarez later this year in an HBO pay-per-view fight
