Many see Spieth on the cusp of becoming the next Tiger Woods in his prime.

Just don’t tell that to Spieth.

Spieth said: “I wouldn’t pin your hopes on doing what Tiger’s done. I experienced a year of it, but he continued to do it for years.

“I doubt you will see dominance by one person again. The younger guys are more fearless now. It’s so different.

“It’s exciting, but it’s different now to having one guy to beat. To tell the truth, I couldn’t name the top four.”

Spieth looks forward to the challenge of the Open Championship.

“I feel refreshed and raring to go,” said Spieth, who will play his first round tomorrow with defending champion Henrik Stenson and South Korea’s Si Woo Kim.

“It was just nice to get away, put my feet in the sand and take a nice long breath and relax.

“I’ve come back with a little more fire and longing and I’m looking forward to this because the course is very tough, but fair.

“The thing you have to remember with the Open is that the draw can take out half of the field if things don’t fall right for you out there.

“Players can go out in the morning and post good scores and if the weather changes you have the other half saying ‘I can’t shoot those scores.’”
