Hockey Bookies Likely to Relish Panthers vs. Oilers
For bookies in North America, nothing could be better than a good 'ol USA vs. Canada series courtesy of the Florida Panthers vs. Edmonton Oilers.
The Panthers were in the Stanley Cup Finals Saturday night. Sunday's game between the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers sent the Oilers into the Stanley Cup to face off against Florida.
For us, we're a little torn. Sure we love our Panthers here in Florida but we also love our Canadian snowbirds. Plus the fact that we here at Gambling911.com are based out of both Miami Beach and Lloydminster, Alberta, not too far from Edmonton.
For everyone else, it's all about bragging rights and likely more betting revenue when it comes to the sportsbooks.
Well, congrats to the Panthers for a great game. We're New York transplants too, so a little hard to root against the Rangers.
For the second straight year, Florida has a chance at hockey's greatest prize.
Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 23 shots, Sam Bennett and Vladimir Tarasenko scored, and the Florida Panthers are headed to the Stanley Cup Final once again after beating the New York Rangers 2-1 on Saturday night.
“We touched it last year and it didn't work for us,” Bennett said of ignoring the trophy, the one presented to the Eastern Conference champions. “So, we thought we'd try something different this year.”
Edmonton has won the cup five times while Dallas has done so once in 1999.
“Everybody talks about momentum in a series. It shifts game to game. We were able to put together two good games,” Oilers captain Connor McDavid said. “We’ve put ourselves in an opportunity at home to win a big game, but that’s all we’ve done. There’s a lot of work to do.”
