Sam Williams Out for Season in Dallas
The Dallas Cowboys have been dealt a major blow to their defense as it was revealed pass rusher Sam Williams suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, a source told ESPN on Sunday.
Williams will be out the entire season as a result.
Williams was injured during the special teams' portion of practice after he was engaged in a blocking drill.
Sportsbooks and pay per head operators have the Cowboys winning 10.5 regular season games in 2024. What impact the loss of Williams has on the team remains to be seen but Dallas was counting on Williams to play a major role in their pass rush behind DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons.
Williams has 8.5 sacks in his first two seasons. He was third on the team in sacks with 4.5 in 2023, but he played just 28.3% of the snaps on defense.
Cleveland Guardians career statistics vs. Jack Flaherty Just .210
The Detroit Tigers may be coming back down to Earth as they've won just three of their last eight games. They'll start a series against the Cleveland Guardians on Monday.

Two of the home runs came courtesy of Jose Ramirez, who is having a good season for Cleveland.
Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports that the Padres have had discussions with the Tigers about right-hander Flaherty, so there is a possibility he might not even be starting for Detroit Monday evening.
Flaherty allowed just three hits and one unearned run across six stellar innings on Wednesday against the Guardians.
Tanner Bibee starts for Cleveland. The Tigers have had some moderate success against him.
Despite the last two games of this series resulting in no more than 3 runs each, this has mostly been an Over series across the last ten meetings.
Yankees @ Phillies
Since 2021, the Yankees have gone 4-1 against the Phillies. New York continues to play poorly of late, winning just four of their last ten games and dropping three of their last four. As this was going to press, it appeared as if New York would go 2-1 in their series against Boston, so maybe there is hope.
Philadelphia is imploding as well. They've only won three of their last ten games.
Luis Gil will start for New York. He yielded one run over five innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Mets.
New York Yankees career statistics vs. Zack Wheeler are just .228 but Juan Soto has hit three of the four home runs off of him. That sounds scary until we find that happened in 48 tries. Soto does have 12 hits off of him but his number is just .250.
Aaron Judge is 0-for-5 versus Wheeler.
