Kansas Bookies Feeling the Pinch With Jayhawks, Chiefs

Life for a Kansas bookie has not been easy over these past few months.

The prized Jayhawks College Basketball team is ranked number one in the nation and has covered in all but two games so far this season.

And while the Chiefs have cooled off Against The Spread during the past four weeks (1-3 ATS), area bookies endured an eight-week stretch in which KC covered the spread in all but one of those games.

Regional bookies found themselves reaching out to offshore Price Per Head businesses as a means of reducing the pain since most of these establishments do provide more impulse-oriented live in-play wagering and virtual online casinos as a means of minimizing losses.  Even so, it’s been nearly impossible for bookies in the state of Kansas to turn a profit.

Of course we’d be remiss as to not point out that a good chunk of bookies throughout the Show Me State of Missouri are suffering too.  More than half of that state support the Chiefs (Kansas City encompasses both Kansas and Missouri).  Jayhawks fans are expansive throughout Colorado and Oklahoma (as seen with the accompanying map).

Jon Rahm Surges at PGA Championship

Jon Rahm was going for his third major win at the 107th PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. He played great, proving he’s ready to be a top golfer again. After some ups and downs since joining LIV Golf in late 2023, Rahm shot an impressive 4-under 67 in the third round on Saturday. This strong round put him tied for fifth place, just five shots behind the leader, Scottie Scheffler.
