Ladies' Wimbledon 2011 Odds

The Ladies’ Wimbledon 2011 odds had Maria Sharapova as the technical favorite at 7/2, however, she has alternated with Venus Williams, currently at 4/1 odds.  These odds were all as of June 24.

Venus Williams was at 7/1 odds while Petra Kvitova came in at 11/2.

There was a bit of bizarre controversy coming out of the Ladies’ Wimbledon the past few days as Ian Ritchie, the head of Wimbledon, said he would prefer it if female tennis players would tone down their “grunting”.

"The players have an ability to complain about it, if one player is grunting too much and the other player doesn't like it and it is distracting, they can complain to the umpire," he said

"We have discussed it with the tours and we believe it is helpful to reduce the amount of grunting."

"We are one tournament in a global circuit. But we have made our views clear and we would like to see less of it."
