Masters Golf Tournament 2010 Odds: Betting Should Sore
Masters Golf Tournament 2010 odds were now updated at BetUS.com (see website here) along with a few special prop bets now that Tiger Woods has announced he will play in the event. Tiger Woods was listed as the +300 favorite at BetUS.com with a payout potential of $30 for every $10 bet. The 2010 Masters begins April 8 and goes through Sunday the 11th.
Phil Mickelson was at +650 odds with a payout potential of $65 for every $10 bet.
Padraig Harrington would pay around $140, Rory McIlroy would pay out $200 and Geoff Ogilvy would pay $250.
But all eyes will be on Tiger Woods and the effect he will have on both television ratings (viewership) and betting.
"Oddsmakers believe the 2010 Masters Golf Tournament could rank among the top 10 betting events of the year," stated Payton O'Brien, Senior Editor of the Gambling911.com website. "More than half the bets will be coming in on Tiger Woods to win."
With that in mind, Gambling911.com suggests locking in the +300 odds now.
For the past few months since Woods slammed his SUV into a fire hydrant, oddsmakers have speculated as to when the world's number one golfer would return to the game. Following the accident, nearly a dozen women came forward to claim they slept with Tiger Woods.
"The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect," Woods said Tuesday in a statement. "After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I'm ready to start my season at Augusta. The major championships have always been a special focus in my career and, as a professional, I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though it's been a while since I last played."
BetUS.com was also offering odds on the number of Masters Tiger Woods will win in 2010.
