Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26 KO) vs. Marcos Rene Maidana (35-3, 31 KO)

Sportsbook.ag Line: Mayweather -1000, Maidana +650

Floyd Mayweather Jr. will once again put his undefeated record on the line on Saturday night as he takes on Marcos Maidana in a WBC and WBA Super World welterweight unification title bout in Las Vegas.

Mayweather is back in the ring after defeating previously unbeaten Saul Alvarez on September 14 by majority decision. In that fight, he really dominated the entire way and many critics were baffled that the fight was scored a draw by judge C.J. Ross, while the other two judges had advantages of 117-111 and 116-112 for Mayweather. Many people thought that could be the fight that ended Mayweather’s undefeated streak, as Alvarez has terrific punching power. Mayweather showed once again though, punching power means nothing if you are not able to land any strikes. Mayweather’s speed and quickness is as good as there ever has been in the sport, and it will be very difficult for Marcos Maidana, the pride of Argentina, to hang with the "Money." But Maidana is coming off a huge upset against previously undefeated Adrien Broner. In that Dec. 14 match in San Antonio, he showed terrific poise and confidence to get a victory by unanimous decision against a heavy favorite. While Broner is a quality fighter, he is not in the same category as Mayweather.

"Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather Jr. is undefeated for a reason in his career, and of his 45 victories, 26 have come way of knockout (58% KO percentage), showing that he is able to compete and win in any kind of matchup. The 37-year-old's experience is his biggest advantage in the ring, as Mayweather is always in control of the fight. In his last bout against Alvarez, he did an amazing job of keeping his opponent at bay and not allowing him to use his extreme punching power. Mayweather’s conditioning is as good as there is in the sport, as his workout sessions are legendary. If there is one knock on Mayweather, it is that he lacks incredible knockout power, tallying just one KO in his past six victories since 2008, dropping only Victor Oritz on Sept. 17, 2011. However, he does a terrific job of picking his punches and using them to wear his opponent out. This bout looks very similar to the Mayweather/Robert Guerrero match that took place nearly one year ago on May 4, 2013. If Mayweather comes out focused and ready to go, it is tough to see how he could lose this fight. It also helps that he has a three-inch reach advantage (72") over Maidana (69"). However, if there is one thing Maidana has going for him is that he has absolutely nothing to lose in this fight.

"El Chino" Maidana earned this fight with a terrific victory against Broner, who entered that December bout with a 27-0 record. The 30-year-old Maidana did a terrific job of controlling that fight, and never allowed his opponent to get comfortable. Maidana has shown the ability to defeat some very talented guys, as he also has a victory against Victor Ortiz back on June 27, 2009. In that fight, he was getting dominated early, hitting the mat three times in the first two rounds before coming back to deliver a sixth-round TKO. His biggest strength is that he is never going to give up in a fight, and 31 of his 35 victories (89%) have come by way of knockout, gaining just four wins from the judges. While the 5-foot-7 Maidana, who cedes one inch in height to his Saturday opponent, has shown to be tough, no training in the world can prepare a boxer for what Mayweather is going to bring to the table.
