Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0) vs. Saul Canelo Alvarez (42-0-1)

Sportsbook.ag Line: Mayweather Jr. -250, Canelo +200

Floyd Mayweather Jr. will put his undefeated record on the line Saturday night, as he goes up against fellow unbeaten Saul Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas.

Every fight Mayweather is in, the talk is whether or not this is the fight that his streak comes to an end, and every time he has been able to come out on top. Mayweather will be fighting just 133 days since his last fight, the quickest turnaround for him in 12 years.  This a very intriguing matchup of two undefeated fighters separated by a 13-year age difference. The 36-year old Mayweather may be the best-conditioned athlete in professional sports. His unbelievable quickness and cat-like reflexes makes it very difficult for opponents to land solid punches, and then the conditioning allows him to pull away in the later rounds. Despite being just 23 years old, Alvarez has fought 42 victories, just two less than Mayweather. While he lacks the experience of Mayweather, he makes up for it with extreme power in his punches. Alvarez has the opportunity to become the face of boxing by pulling off the upset if he is able to use his strength advantage.

When he is focused and ready to fight, there may not be a more dominating athlete in all of sports than Mayweather. Of his 44 career victories, 26 have come way of knockout, showing that he is able to compete and win in any kind of matchup. His experience is his biggest advantage in the ring as he is always two steps ahead of his opponent. It may appear that Mayweather is being backed into a corner, but then all of a sudden, he is standing with his hands in the air after the knockout victory. In his last match against Robert Guerrero on May 4, Mayweather was able to win by decision with a comfortable score of 117-111 from all three judges. Four of Mayweather's past five victories have come by decision. The other fight was the controversial bout against Victor Ortiz, in which "Money" threw a knockout punch at the end of the fourth round when it appeared Ortiz was apologizing for an illegal head-butt. This match is different because Mayweather will not have the most knockout power in the ring, as that belongs to Alvarez.

The 23-year old from Mexico is a true KO artist. Of his 42 career victories, 30 have come by way of knockout. In his last match against previously undefeated Austin Trout on April 20, Alvarez showed that he does have the stamina and conditioning to go the distance in a match too, winning by unanimous decision. For this match to happen, Alvarez had to get his weight down to 152, two pounds less than what he normally fights at. For Alvarez to pull of the upset, he must stick to his game plan and not let the emotions of the fight take over. Even though he has devastating knockout power, he must be patient and pick his moments right. If he comes out swinging early and doesn’t land the knockout punch, then it will be extremely difficult to beat Mayweather, who gets stronger as the fight goes on.
