Mayweather vs. Pacquiao betting is already a reality even if the actual fight is not.

"We have never seen so much interest in a bet on an event that hasn't yet been scheduled," acknowledged Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are widely expected to fight some time in 2010.  Both camps are still in negotiations.

And make no mistake about it, this fight is going to take place one way or another.  Pacquiao has helped to make boxing respectable once again and the sports bettors are following suit.

Last weekend's Miguel Cotto vs. Manny Pacquiao bout brought in 1.25 million pay-per-view buys, a good number to be sure but past Mayweather fights have resulted in even more buys.

"The fight may still be a dream, but the sharps are already laying down real money on who would win at the BetUS.com Sportsbook," a representative of that company declared on Friday. "The oddsmakers favor the larger, untouched Mayweather, who seemingly has less wear on his tires, and is also likely to have the majority of the leverage in the negotiations."

In terms of Mayweather vs. Pacquiao betting, Mayweather had opened as a -165 favorite vs. Pacquiao at +125.
